When you want to buy a scooter moped, you have many options to think about and pick from. At Direct Bikes, we look to make sure you aren’t going to be too confused by the sheer volume of options. If you would like to go ahead and buy a scooter, though, you need to know what you are buying. That’s why so many people take to Direct Bikes; they see that we can deliver consistency and quality. With our bikes rated as some of the best in the UK, we’ll make buying a scooter/moped a much easier experience.

First off, though, what is the variation from a scooter to a moped?

What is a moped, then?

The firs t thing to clear up is that while broadly the same, a scooter and a moped are not identical. Indeed, they have their own variety and their own style. If you choose to buy a moped, then you are likely ‘settling’ on a 50cc engine. At 50cc, you should be able to hit a top speed of 30 miles per hour. All 50cc mopeds that we sell at Direct Bikes come with a 30mph top speed.

They are also going to be much more likely to be powered using an Automatic transmission. This means no gearbox, and no need to change the gears manually. As you climb up the speeds, your Automatic transmission will set the gears for you. This means that you can easily make sure that your moped is driving at the speed that you would have wanted and expected.

On top of that, it will ensure that your scooter is going to be driving comfortably for your own skill level. If you think riding a moped would be good for you, then check out our 50cc mopeds.

What is a scooter?

Scooters are a more confusing term – often used entirely interchangeably with moped. If you choose to invest in a scooter, then you are buying something very specific indeed. With a moped, you are buying something with a top speed of 30mph. Buying a scooter, though, could see you exceed that by some distance. At Direct Bikes, though, we only sell two major engine sizes of moped/scooter.

We sell a 50cc moped, and a 125cc scooter range. Our 125cc scooters are slightly larger andare more likely to be driven by a Manual transmission. However, for those who have gotten used to the simplicity of riding an Automatic, we do have some Auto transmission scooters hanging around.

There’s a big reason why we always suggest that you take a look at our scooter moped collection. This will ensure you can get all the help that you need to really buy a scooter that is the right size for you. Whether you want to go for the simplicity of a moped or the style of a scooter, we’ll help you to make your choice.

All that you need to work out, then, is what your ideal price would be!
