How Fast Is a 50cc Moped In Mph?

For anyone thinking about buying a 50cc moped at Direct Bikes, we have numerous options for you to pick from. 50cc mopeds are very popular with many riders today. Simple and easy to get the hang of, a 50cc moped from our store can be very easy to ride indeed. However, the only question that you might need an answer to with regards to buying a moped is to look at their top speed. After all, who wants to buy a moped that is too fast for them?

So, how fast is a 50cc moped in mph?

Let’s take a look, because it can be quite confusing if you look around at other stores. At Direct Bikes, though, we make sure that all of our scooters have a standard top speed. For example, all of our 125cc mopeds come with a top speed of 60 miles per hour. For a 50cc moped, though, the top speed is going to be a fair bit lower than this.

Given that our mopeds ride with an Automatic transmission, though, you can easily stay on top of the speed of your moped without having to worry.

How fast is a 50cc moped in mph?

Typically, a 50cc moped is going to have a top speed of 30 miles per hour. At 30mph, you are going to be driving more than fast enough for most local trips. Driving around a town, city, village, or local area is much easier at 30mph. Stepping it up to 125cc means that you are often going to be driving much faster than this, and perhaps too fast for local rides.

However, at a top speed of 30mph – as all 50cc mopeds at Direct Bikes are – you will feel far more comfortable. Again, these are driven using an Automatic transmission. So, you have nothing to worry about with regards to changing gears or anything of the sort. This means that you can instead ride with total confidence as you know you only need to use the handlebars to pick-up or slow down your top speed.

Rev your 50cc to the highest speed it can go, though, and you will be limited to 30 miles per hour. Please note that some people who are driving a 50cc moped, particularly those under the age of 17 and on a CBT license, are limited to just 28mph for their top speed. Be sure to look into what kind of top speeds your current driving credentials allow you to reach.

This will give you the information that you need to make sure that you can drive a 50cc moped without any discomfort. It’s the ideal choice of top speed for those who want to travel around the local area nice and quickly. If you feel like you need to go and ride somewhere a bit faster, though, you might need a 125cc+ scooter.

At Direct Bikes, we can help you to work out which is the ideal top speed for you. So, come and speak to us and we can help you to understand your options.
